The rule: Labor Code Article 87
Under Article 87 of the Labor Code, work beyond 8 hours a day is overtime. On an ordinary working day the overtime hour is paid at the hourly rate plus at least 25% (×1.25). When overtime is performed on a rest day, special non-working day, or regular holiday, the add-on rises to 30% of the hourly rate applicable on that day (×1.30 of that day's already-premium rate).
Overtime rate table
| Ordinary day, up to 8h | 1.0x |
| Ordinary day overtime | +25% (×1.25) |
| Rest day / special day overtime | +30% of that day's rate |
| Regular holiday overtime | +30% of that day's rate |
Worked example
At ₱100/hour, 2 overtime hours on an ordinary day = 2 × ₱100 × 1.25 = ₱250 added to your 8-hour day pay. (On a rest day or holiday the day's base is already a premium, and overtime adds 30% on top of that.)
